At the February Club meeting, the Club voted to allow shotgun patterning only on Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10 am. The shotgun patterning lane is located on the far left side of the gun range, near the pistol shed. The Club’s operating times are limited by a 1984 Special Permit issued by the Town of Walpole. The Range Rules have been revised (emphasis added):

Hours of Operation

1.    Firearm range may only be used for shooting:

a.    Monday through Saturday: 9 AM to 30 minutes BEFORE sunset;

b.    Sunday: 10 AM to 30 minutes BEFORE sunset; and

c.    Sunday: 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM for shotgun patterning only

Ham Shoot: Annual Club Trap Championship

Sunday, March 26th, 9:30 registration; 10 am start

  • $10 entry fee for two rounds of 1-bird trap (pay cash at event)
  • Top five scorers win a ham (alternate prizes available too)
  • Additional prizes for hitting a white clay bird, inserted at random
  • Optional $10 50/50 cash pool: top score/raffle

As always, bring your own shells (lead or steel), which you’ll need two boxes, one for each round, (50 rounds total) of #7-1/2, #8, or #9 shot. You can use any shotgun, as long as it has a stock and barrel length of 18 inches or longer. All members are welcome but if you haven’t shot trap before, please join us for a practice round prior to the match.

Since we award prizes, match participation is limited to members and their family household only–no other guests.

No regular trap held on this day–match only.

Annual Club Meeting Election: Wed., Oct. 4th at 7 PM

At our September General Meeting we will be asking for nominations for the Annual Meeting election to be held the first Wednesday in October (10/4) at 7 pm. Members may nominate themselves and all nominees for each position should confirm their intention to run for a position to the Secretary at least two weeks prior to the Annual Meeting (reply to this email or email info@westwoodgunclub.com). Members not confirming their intention to run in advance may still announce as “nominations from the floor” at the October Annual Meeting.

Regular and Life Members in good standing with at least one full year of membership beyond the one-year probationary period are eligible to hold Officer and Director positions (i.e. be a Club Member for at least 2 years). All terms begin serving on January 1, 2024, and elected Officers and Directors are expected to attend both the General Meetings and Board Meetings, which Board Meetings are typically held in person on the first Wed. of the month starting at 6 pm.

Voting at the Annual Meeting must be made in person: there is NO mail-in or absentee ballot provision. Currently there are seven positions for which members can nominate themselves:

Five Officers positions (1-year term):

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Governor

Two Director positions (3-year term):

  • Director (2024 – 2026)
  • Director (2024 – 2026)
